Friend of mine bought a Sharp 32" widescreen TV. He's only had the TV for 3 months, and when I was at his house a few days ago, he asked me to set his contrast brightness color levels for him.

Alas - the picture was a saturated blue. Bit like a nice white shirt after being washed with a pair of new levis. I mean, there wasn't any black in the picture - it was blue-blue-blue.

Anyone know what is wrong?

The blue level is not somthing that can be accessed through the remote control. Perhaps the engineers menu, I thought. Not that I'd go fiddling around in there - even if I knew how to. The problem is that the problem wasn't - you know, it kinda went blue overnight.

Anyway - his set is still under guarantee.

Then definitely have it serviced. A gun might be going out.

I believe the original poster is in the UK and widescreen sets are really common over there.

Smaller size widescreen TV's have been available there for quite some time. My parents who live in London bought a Hitachi 24" widescreen last year. I believe it cost them approx. $550. Although I have not tried DVD's on it it handles the 4:3 ratio of TV programs very well using some kind of zoom/stretch mode.

Not sure what the model number is. I am in the UK, though.
