Samsung 40" 16:9 Digital TV/LCD $1699. Good deal??

bestbuy.com is selling this projection tv for $1699. is this a good price?
i cannot seem to find any reviews on the net for this model.
here are the specs:

Have you seen it yet? That's really the telling sign of whether you should get it or not. There's a review of it on theperfectvision.com I think. Check ecoustics.com to see if it's listed in the reviews.
One thing that made me pass on this one is, there's an SLK... model that replaces this one. The SLK accepts 480p output from a progressive DVD player. This PLK doesn't, as it only upconverts whatever interlaced signal it gets into progressive.

hmmm . . . i don't think this is a very good price as this is a discontinued model. i've seen it for $1,200. the new model is based on FLCD and has, presumably, better black levels. i'd pass.

Its not a very good deal especially since it only does 480p in 2006 if when the US goes HDTV which this is not you might as well have a Trinitron. Look at the Toshiba 40H80, its found online for around $1900 and gets rave reviews. Also I'm looking into Panasonic (?) which is supposed to be debuting a 46" HDTV ready TV with a MSRP of $2000 so with luck it'll retail around $1800.
