I just bought a Toshiba SD1600 and already have had a problem playing a disc. ("Over Canada documentary that comes with Sony Tv's). Is it my imagination, or are Toshiba DVD's plagued with more problems reading disc than other manufacturers?

My problem is that mid-level DVD's don't provide the options that I want. The entry level players have them, but not on the same machine.

Here is what I was looking for on 1 machine

Zoom - Toshiba SD1600
CDR capability - Pioneer 333
Smooth Scan - Sony A360
Multiple aspect ratios - Kenwood
Fast menu load - all but Toshiba

I don't need (read don't want to pay for) multi disc capability or built in decoders.
