Okay, I broke down and got a Sony theater system (HT-DDW820) to go with my DVD system (DVP-S330). The sound is good as I am only playing CDs right now. However, when I hit the DVD button the picutre was in Black and White! It has never done this before, why is it doing it now? Please answer ASAP! Hopefully it is just a problem with the remote or TV, I have a Sony 32-inch Trinitron for those interested. Please Help!

Check all of your video connections. Make sure they are tight.

Most likely, you have a loose connection.

If all the connections are tight, you probably have a bad cable. Replace your video cables one by one until your problem goes away.

If this doesn't fix it...

1) I'll be surprised
2) Come back here and let us know

Let me take a stab even though I'm far from an expert! Do you have the DVD video cable running to a VCR and then have the VCR going into the TV? If so, that's gotta be the problem. Run the DVD directly to the TV (using S-video cable if possible).

If that's not the problem, then double-check all of your cable connections. Also see if you get color using just the composite (RCA) cables from the DVD to the TV. If you do, then you have a bad S-video cable - buy a new one.

If that still doesn't work, then hopefully someone else will chime in!

Before I put my system in, the DVD ran through the VCR and worked fine. Now it runs directly through a video S-Link and is only in Black and White. I disconnected all things running to the amplifier, so it's obviously in the player.

Well, I solved the problem, but I still think something is wrong with the player or TV. I got the color back when I went with the video and two audio wires, but it's still B/W when I use the S video directly into the set. Strange.

Did you try a different s-video cable?
