What do you need to host a Karaoke party? I have a dvd player and nice sound system. But besides a microphone, what else would I need (electronically speaking, of course). Anyone have experience with this? Any suggestions on good Karaoke dvds?
Thanks!

inviting friends over for a karaoke party can be worse than Chinese water torture, unless all of your friends can sing, but then again if they all sing good, that would take the fun out of it

Exactly! A few of the girls can sing great and they LOOK great too. The guys sing terrible and provide comic relief between the girls. I just want to know how it's done so I can host a party.

If you don't have a karaoke DVD player or receiver, I'm not sure how well it will work out. But other than that, all you really need would be the discs.

I would think you'd be able to rent the player and the discs from a local store or rental shop or karaoke place.

Moving to DVD and Home Theater Hardware forum.

You will need an echomixer, which will link the music from the dvd player and voice from the microphone. The echomixer will also provide the level adjustment of voice, tone, pitch of the music and voice.
