the only reset technique I know is unplugging it.

My 3109 did the same thing after I had it about a year. It gradually got worse and would constantly flash "No Disc" on the screen even though a disc was inserted. Toshiba Service acknowledged I had the most recent firmware version so they suggested unplugging it. But that didn't do the job until I took the casing off and unplugged the internal connector ribbons while letting the player sit for 24 hours. This agonizing repair method was necessary after about every ten movies, and it soon became more and more frequent until the player wouldn't respond anymore. Needless to say, I loved my Toshiba when it was working, but I've now got me a nice Sony DVD player that hasn't caused me a single problem... yet.

yeah, i was told by toshiba to unplug it for 5 minutes and strangely enough, it seemed to work. opening it up seems extreme but if it gets worse, its good to know that i can do that and it may work (now that the warranty is long gone...)

I've had my Toshiba 2109 for over a year now and haven't had one problem yet even though I punched a dent in the top of it and now something is rattling around inside.
Toshiba <---my next "test" of durability.
