Moving to Japan - plan to take my Region 1 DVD Player (Sony DVP-S360) with me as well as all of my R-1 DVD's. Owner's Manual says 120 Volts AC. I BELIEVE Japanese Voltage is 108 V AC. Do I risk burning out a chip or transformer due to inadequate voltage? Some things specifically say 100 - 120 V AC. This owner's manual DOES NOT say that.

Japan is 108 and if the DVD player is rated for a voltage range of 100-120 you should be ok. The only thing is Japan voltage operates at 50hz. Make sure sure the DVD player can operate at 50hz otherwise you will need a transformer/converter(the ones that convert 50hz to 60hz are pretty expensive, probably would be cheaper to buy a new DVD player).
Hope this helps.

I have 2 players, one that I bought from Hong Kong (which is 220volt) and one that I bought from the US (portable) and both work fine here in Japan with no external transformers.
I think Tokyo is 100V at 50hz as the only thing that didn't work from the states was a cheap alarm clock. All other electronics work without problem (including fax machines, coffee makers, etc)
