Now before any of you get on my case saying I want to copy dvd's to vhs illegally....let me explain what I'm asking.

I own a 36" Toshiba which I hook up my dvd player through the component inputs, so I have no problems. But my brother has got an older tv w/o any a/v inputs, so he has to put his PS2 through a vcr. Now doing that he cannot play dvd's on his ps2. I was wondering if anyone knows where you could get something that could bypass the macrovision w/o having to buy an APEX or something of the sort?

Thanks and please save the flaming for someone else b/c I'm only asking for help. Thanks!

I won't flame you. But, you are posting this in the wrong forum. If you want to save the moderators from the effort, delete this thread and repost it in the Home Theater Hardware Forum. You'll both be keeping it on topic, and more importantly, you'll be posting it in a forum where there are people far more expert than the yahoos in here.

He should still be able to play dvds on there just more then likely the color will change a little bit here and there that's all I ever see from Macrovision. Annoying but at least you can watch them.

Do a search on the word Macrovision in the Home Theater Forum over the past week or so. Your answers will be there.

Without resorting to hardware fiddling, there's a device called a "Colour Corrector" available which plugs in between the input device and the VCR; it costs around US$70, I believe, and you should be able to find one at a dedicated A/V store.

Oh yeah, and "In before the move!"

Get an RF Modulator from radio shack. Costs $30 works great.
