What does VM mean on a Wega?

Velocity Modulation, also referred to as Scan Velocity Modulation (and also by many obscenities too). It is a technique that adds width to dark lines to increase perceived contrast. It, in fact, only adds distortion to the picture by introducing "detail" that was never in the source. Turn if off!

Actually, I have mine set to "high"
Now, when watching non-anamorphic DVD's I suggest turning it off.
But when you are watching an anamorphic DVD and have the 16x9 enhancement feature turned on it makes one hell of a difference in picture detail. If you have it turned off when 16x9 enhancement is in effect it makes it look blurry...
Just my 2 cents

Have you used Avia or V.E. to calibrate your set?
