Is AVIA worth getting if a person has a direct view TV? I know that AVIA has comprehensive audio tests, but am wondering if it will help with a direct view TV?

Absolutely. While the geometry and convergence patterns won't do you much good, there is plenty of benefit into calibrating your contrast, color and tint, especially on direct-view sets, since most of them are factory-set to be all out of whack.

The audio calibration is great, too. This is a very worthwhile disc, even for modest systems.

I agree. I use Video Essentials. But most people have everything set way too "hot". After calibration the settings will usually look a little pale, but will grow to look much more natural.

I agree with the other posts - definitely get Avia. You'll probably be suprised by how much you have your picture and/or brightness level way off. I know I was.

Yes, definitely. I have a Wega and I'm glad I got AVIA to help me calibrate the color.

Absolutely. I have a 27" direct view Sony Trinitron and it made a significant difference to the image quality.
