I have an Onkyo TV636 receiver and a JBL PSW-10 powered sub woofer. For some reason the sub woofer seems to pop every once in a while due to a low signal or signal loss (my guess). Is there any way I can determine if it is my sub woofer or my receiver without going out and buying another sub woofer? FYI it seems to happen more frequently when the volume is low and it occurs on all audio inputs.

Thanks...

Bumping again... After doing some research on this forum I think it may have to do with clipping. I've also seen some posts about pink noise generators. If I buy one of these how do I calibrate my bass/treble and power subwoofer (volume and crossover) settings so that I do not get this power subwoofer cutting in and out? Also should I turn off the "Selective Tone" button on my receiver?

THANKS

I discovered that a older small refridgerator I had in my HT room was causing this same popping noise (everytime it would cycle on and off). I plugged the sub into a different plug that was on a different circuit and have had no further problems! Check to see if you may have anything that can be causing the same interference.
