I'm planning to buy a multi-region player that...
plays all 6 regions & Pal format.
Guaranteed to play all disc for life!
Thing I need to know is, would Pal format...
being converted to NTSC format, lose picture quality?
Does Pal DVDs playback as great as our NTSC DVDs?
Hate to pay $1,000.00 for player & have picture
quality look terrible on my HDTV.
Thanks for all advice!

This one's kinda expensive, but if you can afford an HDTV:

It's from the same store where I got my code free 606 a little over a year ago. Elite pioneer progressive scan model, so it'll look great on your HDTV. It's a pioneer modified by dvdcity, which mine is, and mine plays all regions (never tried PAL) and plays new movies with RCE like the patriot.
This one is probably now my dream player.

I have a Kones DVD-3000 multi-region player (I think the parent company is Samsung), which unlike most other multi-region players is set to play regions 1-6 in the factory by the manufacturer. It plays DVD/VCD/SVCD/CVD/DVCD/CD/MP3 and even some CD-Rs. It can play NTSC, PAL and SECAM signals. I purchased this player from there

PAL DVDs can play as good as NTSC DVDs, but if you are going to convert PAL signal into NTSC you'll need a converter and some of the picture quality is going to be lost in the conversion process, or you'll need a multi-system TV set. I opted to get a multi-system TV set, but if you want to play PAL on your HDTV, which I am assuming is not designed to receive PAL signal, you will definitely need a converter. Planet3000 sells them.

You guys are great!
For sure answered my question.
Just what I thought, that my HDTV...
would not play (convert) pal format.
I see I need a converter.
Thanks a bunch, much appreciated!

If u read about the RCE (Region code Enhancement) , chances are u would want to wait for a dvd player that can defeat this new RCE thing. Currently, the Kones 3000 player cannot handle this RCE thing.

I don't know about the quality of the Afreey players, but here's a link to the information and a review.

This is a UK based company that is expert in multi region dvd players. U might want to check this. It also mentions abt RCE and which player can defeat it so far.
