How many digital inputs are there on your receiver and how many are coax and how many optical? What components are they assigned to (e.g. DVD, DSS, etc.)
How many S-Video inputs and outputs does your receiver have and are they assigned to specific components?
Do you have any other components besides the DVD player and PS2?

Right now, i just have my S-Video running directly from my DVD player to my TV. However, i do have an S-Video IN and S-Video OUT on my receiver. I also have a Coax cable used for my sound, which runs from my DVD player to my receiver. I have surround sound speakers hooked up also. I also have the normal audio hookup from my TV to the TV port on the back of my receiver. That's all i have hooked up to my system now...I just need to know how to maximize my performance....
Thanks

Your best bet is to get a multi system selector that allows you to connect several S-Video sources into one input. I have my Dreamcast, PS, PS2, Apex DVD, and my VCR all going into the selector and all going into only 1 S-Video input on my TV.
Just remember NOT to hook up audio cables from sources that you want going into your receiver. For example, I have my secondary APex player running s-video through the system selector, but the digital sound is running to my receiver via digiatal coaxial cable.
My main Sony DVD player is connected to my TV via component connections and I have an optical cable running to my receiver. So it's totally seperate from the rest of my stuff.
System selectors are very handy.

I think what jsjesse said would be your best bet short of buying a new receiver with more inputs.
