I just got the Wega 27FS12, and I need a stand for it. The one from Sony is nice, but the cheapest price I have found is $100. Ideally I would spend around half that. I really don't have any qualifications for the stand other than its ability to hold the weight of the Wega. Can anyone recommend any sturdy brands? Or maybe a place online where I can buy someone's old official Wega stand?
Thanks

Try a construction site that has recently poured a foundation. You'll be looking for form boards. They are the planks covered with concrete!

touche. I suppose I do have some requirements. I'm really just looking for a recommendation of a good and inexpensive brand (if one exists). Also - Wega owners - any recommendations?

@ $50 your going to have to build your own and likely have to scrounge around for supplies.
Form boards (or something like), screws, paint, and some wheels could become something to brag about.
Get creative, you'll be better for it!

Officemax.com has a "equipment stand" for $49.99. They have free shipping on orders over $50, so just pick up something small. It says it will hold a 27" TV, but i have my 31" TV on it and it fits and looks great. I Love the thing.

Thanks - I'll check this out. Does it say anything on the box or inside about a weight limit? Like I said, my main qualification is that this thing won't break under the weight of the Wega. I'm sure it's sturdy, but it would make me feel easier if it said in writing what it could withstand.

It says on the box that it holds a 27" tv. It doesn't mention weight. All i know is that my 31" TV weighs about 100 - 110 lbs. If you want I could check my work and look on the box again. I work At officemax. I am scheduled tonight. So it wouldn't take me long to look at the box again.
I also emailed Osullivan (manufacturer) and asked it it had verification that it could hold a TV that weighed 99 lbs(which is what yours weighs). I hope this helps.

peskoe150: If you are looking for a retail stand, you should probably consider stands that will support a 32" (regular) TV. The WEGA TVs are considerably heavier than normal TVs. For my 32" WEGA, I went out and bought the "official" Sony WEGA stand. I got it at Sears for around $150.
Make sure of the weight!

I looked on the box at work and it said nothing about the weight it can hold. Mine, although, is very, very steady. i even slid it across a floor and it didn't break or crack.

I'm using this 27" Fisher TV stand from BB, which I got for $50.
