Just under a year with my Panasonic A320, it won't read my DVD's. Pretty crappy if you ask me. So a new Sony is on order.

Anyone else have problems with Panasonics?

Welcome, and what will you call yourself if your Sony has problems?

Some people here like the Panasonics, but I've read a lot about the lasers going out prematurely and frequently.

I guess I'll wait till my Sony DVD player flakes out before changing my ID. I've always had tremendous luck with Sony, don't know why I didn't purchase it in the first place. The strange thing with the Panasonic A320 is that it reads CDs but not DVDs.

FWIW, I have had a Panasonic C-220 5 disc changer for 8 months with no problem

I also have a 4 year old Technics DPL receiver that has never givin me a problem.

I have had numerous Sony products break or not perform up to my standards

I thought they fixed these things already...

Panasonic DVD player problems.

FYI, some of the early Sony players had lipsynch problems. The Pioneer 414 (an early favorite) had technical problems too and the Toshiba's are famous for their flaky roms.

It's still a relatively new technology and they keep implementing parts of the DVD spec that haven't been used before. It will be a little while until things are bulletproof.

I got a Panasonic A320 too. So far it has been ok. No problems at all.

I got it in Jan this year.

I have had the A110 for 2 1/2 years and it is still going strong!!! Highly rated by Robert George upon it's release....

I've had a portable panasonic for 2 years now with a few problems reading certain discs. Recently got a rv30 and have had no problems yet.

I have a 310, sent it in for repairs two months after buying it (18 months ago) had the pickup unit replaced and a firmware upgrade (solved chapter skip, lock up and pixelation problems). Has been flawless since...
