I don't have an entertainment unit or anything, so my speakers currently reside on the floor. What is a good site to get speakers stands from? I'm not looking for anything special, just something cheap that'll raise the speakers off the floor.

Also, how high should speakers be raised? 2-3 feet above the seating area?

Thanks

Circuit City has a pair of wooden speaker stands for $39. Looks decent. Check current advertisement.

Try some Lovan or Wood Technology stands, depending if you want metal or wood. You can get a nice set for under $100. If that is too much try some cinder blocks from your local hardware store. They work as good as anything under $100, probably better, they just look like crap.

Get stands(or blocks) that put the speakers tweeters at or as close as possible to ear level when you are seated in your main listening/viewing position.
