I've been trying for a week to decide which set of speakers I want for my new 6.1 HT system. It'll be 70% HT use, 30% music. Planning to power it with an Outlaw 1050 receiver. Let me know what you'd pick -- I've given up on trying to decide for myself, and must place my order within the next hour.

Here are the options:

JBL Studio System
mains: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00002EQBR/
surrounds: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00002EQBU/
center: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00002EQBM/

Wharfedale Emerald System
mains: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004SY5B/
surrounds: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004SY56/
center: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004SY58/

I vote for JBL. I've always enjoyed my JBL stuff.

JBL is quality, you can even ask those elite people at www.hometheaterforum.com.

or run a search for jbl and read all about it. Like in this thread

Wharfedale, Sounds like a washing machine to me. I don't here of too many people with this brand of speakers.

This must be a joke. Surely you wouldn't order anything from an American retailer!

I'm shocked!

This could be our only chance to get BCS to accept any of our opinions!

For a socialist, wouldn't the proper choice be to purchase the speaker made by the company that treats its employees the best (in the view of the buyer), fights against the repression of the American regime, etc.? I assume I don't have to go into details aboot this any further.

I would go with the JBL Studio Seris. I have never liked Wharfedale speakers and have been overjoyed with the way my JBL Studo Seris speakers sound for their price.

For the price, I am VERY pleased with my JBL Studio series speakers, so I am a little biased and would have to say JBL.

Add another vote for Wharfedale.

That's it? No other choices!? I've got to say, I've never held either JBL or Wharfdale in high regard, even at their price point.

That objection being logged, I would have to say go with the wharfdales.

If it's one or the other, then my vote is for the warfedale. Unless you are paying with amazon gc's, I'd look elsewhere first.
