Cheapst 4:3 TVs with anamorphic squeeze?

I only know that the Sony WEGA 27FS12 , 27FS16 have the anamorphic 16:9 compression. Not too sure if there is a cheaper TV that has this feature.
U just missed the 20% off using MSN Passport in 800.com. It would probably be the cheapest & best value TV u will ever get at that time.

Just goes to show you, you get what you pay for. This TV is cheaper and can do the compression but it doesn't even have S-Video inputs. A better suggestion would be to research some sets that can't do the squeeze through the user menus but can through the service mode. My 20" Wega is like that and it works like a charm for doing the squeeze.

I just picked up the wega 27FS12 last night, since our damn bedroom tv fried in the early evening. Wish it went a little sooner(800.com deal), but was able to cut a good deal with the local Good Guys (needed it immediately too). Haven't tried the squeeze yet, but the picture is awesome!!! Probably will be even better when I get that s-video cable today... Unless you need Picture in Picture (which I thought I did years ago and never use on my 35" Tosh), you probably would be fine with the FS12.
We went to Best Buy first, but the people there were nasty and the stock people kept asking us to move as they restocked shelves during shopping hours (and were nasty about it). So we picked up and headed to a pretty empty Good Guys store, got great service and cut a deal quickly. Was out of there in 10 mins with new TV loaded. I do not know what everyone sees in Best Buy.

The TV "squeezes" the image to accomodate an anamorphic picture on a 4:3 non-anamorphic TV. An anamorphic picture will usually appear stretched vertically on a 4:3 TV and you must have your DVD player downconvert the image to 4:3 ratio by removing 1 out of every 4 lines. By having your TV "squeeze" the anamorphic picture down instead of having the player downconvert, you will presumably be getting a sharper picture since it's not removing any lines.
