I ordered the JVC RX-8000VBK from Amazon over a week ago and am anxiously awaiting shipment. In the meantime I am contemplating how to hook all my components to my home theater up to the thing. My question to you is whether or not the receiver is able to provide a single s-video output to my TV. I have a Toshiba TV and although it accepts both s-video and composite, you can only have one or the other plugged in at a time. Currently I have a JVC switchbox that put me back $200 a couple years ago that can convert composite to s-vid and my plan is to plug in a bunch of video game systems into the switchbox and then into one input on the receiver (I have alot of stuff I want to plug in). I want to plug my composite JVC VCR directly into the receiver to take advantage of the compulink, but am worried the receiver will not convert the signal to S-vid for my TV input. If that is the case I guess I will give up the compulink by plugging the VCR into the switchbox and then the switchbox into the receiver. I'm getting confused by possible hookups and would appreciate some info on this receiver as far as the inputs go. It'll be great if the receiver can take composite and convert to s-vid.

I have the RX8000VBK, it does composite and s-video switching for 4 inputs I believe. I can't tell you whether or not it will convert composite to s-video; I am guessing no. When you receive the unit, I think you will be pleasently surprised by the flexibility in connections it offers, I know I was. Good luck.

Then in addition to my switchbox I will finally have enough inputs to resurrect a graveyard in video game systems. I'm looking forward to the new receiver. I bet it kicks the pants off my current Technics receiver.
