I have a Pioneer VSX-D509s and a Pioneer Dv-C503 (I think those are the model #s). Whenever I play a DTS soundtrack it plays fine, no problem. When I play a DD soundtrack it only come through pro-logic. I have them connected via toslink. My question is what am I doing wrong, and why can I not get DD 5.1 with a DD 5.1 encoded disc?

Check your settings on your dvd player within the menu system....read your manual regarding DTS/DD!!! It should have a section in there regarding how you should have your menu optioins set in relation to sound.

Sounds like your player's settings for AC3 sound is not set to the on position within your menu!!! It has been awhile since I messed with my player so my explanation may be somewhat confusing....look to your manual and read the section which tells you how you should have your audio configured for playing discs....

I have figured it out, and came to the conclusion that I am an idiot. Thanks for the reply though. I messed up a macro on my new remote.
