Question on 6.1 matrix vs. discrete ww receivers.

I am looking at buying one of the following receivers within the next month:
Denon 3801
Onkyo 787
Pioneer 35-TX
Now, one big difference between the Onkyo and the Denon appear to be matrix vs. discrete on 6.1. The Onkyo does 6.1 matrix but the Denon does 6.1 discrete w/ no additional amp required.
The Pioneer does 5.1 or 7.1 but to do 7.1 you need another external amp (which is no big deal because I have my old receiver I can use). But I have no idea how the Pioneer handles EX/ES. Is it matrix or discrete?
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks

The Pioneer is matrix. To date the only two DTS-ES Discete compatible receivers are the Denon AVR-3801 and the Denon AVR-5800.
