I'm adding a much needed sub to my HT which is comprised of 3 BIC 62SIBs across the front and a 60w Pioneer. Specs say the BICs will go down to 43hz and my Pioneer has x-over settings of 100, 150 and 200. Waiting on my new Yamaha YST-90 sub to arrive but already confused about how to configure it into my system. All 3 front speakers are currently set to large with the surrounds set to small. As I see it, there are 2 basic configurations:
1. Set all speakers to small and let the sub carry all the bass below the x-over. If so, what should the receiver's x-over be? 100? 150? 200?150, 200? Should the sub's x-over be set just above this number?

2. Set all the front speakers to large since they are identical and leave the surrounds on small. The will send .1 and all bass below receiver's x-over from surrounds to sub, right? With this setup what should the receiver's x-over be?
I'm not concerned about over-working the receiver with all speakers set to large. I just like smooth tight bass (nothing boomy or too loud) from both DVD and Music. Most of my listening is around -35 with reference being -17.

Also, how does each of these configurations affect 2 channel stereo? Since there's no .1 where is bass sent when front left and right speakers are set to large? Small?

And while I asking questions can anyone tell if I should use the "loud" button when calibrating speakers with the SPL meter? Should I use it if my listening volume is around -35. Reference is -17.
