My wife wanted this for her birthday since our little cd unit fried. We have a really nice HT, but didn't have DVD capability in our bedroom.
Though it has a passive subwoofer, the system does a decent job in a small room. Not a ton of power (only 30 wpc in 5.1 surround), but we won't max it out anyway.
For the price (just over 450 shipped from 800.com during the MSPassport deal) it is a terrific solution with both DD and DTS capability. It also only cost about 100 more than the mini stereo my wife also liked.
For those in search of a cheap, compact system for a small/second room, I recommend it...
