Can anybody tell me if there is a product that is similar to these; AudioReQuest http://www.request.com/photos.html and LANSONIC DAS-750 http://www.lansonic.com/ . The AudioReQuest has a CD tray and a on screen interface but it lacks digital out connections. The LANSONIC DAS-750 has digital out connections but does not have a CD tray or an on screen interface. The sound quality between the two is supposed to be like night and day with the LANSONIC DAS-750 having CD quality sound. Does anyone know of any component that has all of these qualities?

Yeah...not to be an @ss, but you could set up your computer to perform better than those two. If you really wanted a dedicated machine, you could build your own for a shitload cheaper than what they sell it for. You just need a spiffy looking black case and the rest is just standard stuff...using your TV as a monitor to control everything.

While less elegant, this unit will play MP3s
from CD-Rs and CD-RWs:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004UE2R/
One disc holds 10 hours of music. A $2 cable
will link its line out jack to a preamp's
input.

Have you listened to MP3s recorded at high
bitrates? Sounds pretty good to me through
Aragon/NHT gear.
Not perfect, but for the price, I can live
with it.

No, no, no...
What I meant was that if you took the line out mini-jack from that MP3 CD player and branched it into stereo composites and then imputed it into an amp your noise and distortion would be through the roof. The only quality alternative, and the method I use, is to get a sound card (or a stand alone player) that support digital coax or optical output. I have a 4M digital coax cable running from my PC to my receiver and the MP3 audio is sent over in pure digital perfection.

Just curious, how does the adapter I
mentioned differ from a pair of $200
Steinhauser headphones using the same
type of branching from a mini-jack?
Few people would call that sound noisy and
distorted.
