Earlier in this thread you speak of only wanting intelligent remarks to your original post. Keeping that in mind, how does this comment belong?

How can you compare one cable to another if you have never heard the difference yourself? I couldn't.

This may be another reason people bash Monster cable. Since every "30 day return policy" type store sells them. Many people have heard/seen Monster for themselves and compared them to higher end Radio Shack cables (also has a 30 day return) and Monster lost...

As far as intelligent comments, I was referring to ones that didn't start with TROLL! and the like. Sorry if I wasn't intelligent enough for you. Also, I personally didn't say anything (that I recall) about me comparing the two cables. I asked why they were slammed so much by various people. As far as Monster 'losing' in direct comparison to Rat Shack cables ...the day I see that any professional sound engineer, mixer, etc. uses Radio Shack cables over Monster because they think it sounds better...I'll eat my hat.
I tell you what...I'll take the "Radio Shack challenge" as soon as I get my new gear set up. I just bought a Denon AVR 5800 and a Sunfire Cinema Grand. When (*SIGH*) I finally get moved into my new house and have time to get the HT set up properly, I'll go and by some Radio Shack cables and compare them to the Monster cables currently in my system. If Radio Shack cables can make a difference (for the better)in the sound I hear, I'll gladly trade in my Monsters for Radio Shack.
But on the other hand...how does the saying go..."wire is wire", right? So if you go by that logic, there should be no sound difference, am I correct?

This is off-topic because it's not about Monster per se, but what do you think about the skin-effect claim for audio signals?

Basically, most of the current actually rides on the outside of the center conductor where surface defects and the dielectric properties of the insulator can make signal differences, mostly in phase and group delay. The idea is a good cable needs a center conductor w/a as-defect-free-surface- as-possible and an insulator w/a low dielectric constant, thus emphasizing high purity or expensive materials.

You're right there shouldn't be any difference at all unless you are using Monster's Top of the Line Cable and Wire. Make sure this test that you run is a blind test or else there is really no point to it. Just have a friend hook up the wires. I have heard of others trying a comparison between the two with the outcome usually being a dead heat between the two.

Sorry, I had to bust your balls on that one

The setup was just too perfect to pass.

Fair enough, but you did say you blindly buy monster. That makes no sense other than you are a victim of hype, no?

I didn't think this was ever part of the arguement either

If you do a proper BLIND test, I doubt you will hear a difference that matters. Make sure you use the higher quality Rat Shack gold plated cables and not the $2 silver ones. I will not say a wire is a wire is a wire (some cables are more than just metal), but the average monter cable is not anything to be proud of...

I know you will not be fair, no one likes to eat their words (or hat) even on a forum. But give it a shot, I do not care if you post your results back here or not.

It is really not that important to me what you use or think, but be fair and intelligent about your comments. Your statement above is the same as me saying I use Rat Shack cables and there is no point in me even listening to monster because I know *mine* is best.... see my point? I listen before I judge, and ALL that is important is what sounds good to ME or you not that we agree on good sound.
