The Denon receiver I bought two years ago has a DD 5.1 decoder, but no DTS. It does, however, have a 6-channel input that would allow me to hook up a DTS decoder. When I mentioned to a friend that I finally wanted to upgrade to DTS (while keeping my receiver), he suggested to get a DVD player with a built-in DTS decoder, possibly even one with the NUON technology, for approximately the same cost as a separate decoder. My problem is that I've tried searching for DVD players with the DTS decoder, but I haven't come up with too much. (There appear to be plenty of players with built-in DD 5.1 decoders, though). Any suggestions? Thanks.

Pioneer 626, Panasonic 320 (precursor to RV80), Toshiba 4205 have built in DTS decoders as well. No nuon, which usually raises the price well over $350. The first 2 are particularly good players in the $300-$350 range. You might find a good deal on the 320.
You could get a separate DTS decoder for less: a Technics SHAC500 or Millenium 2:4:6. Both can run under $200 (especially used).
Check places like refurbishedstore.com, spidergear.com, tsto.com, audiogon.com.
This assumes your DVD player isn't too old and can output a DTS bitstream - just about every player made in the last 2 years.

GaryJ and BEC: good answers both. Obviously, I hadn't come across those models in my search. Thanks. BEC: my player is a Panasonic A110 with DD 5.1 and DTS capability, so it should work with a separate DTS decoder.
Re: the NUON, I priced the Samsung Extiva N2000 at $349. Unfortunately, it only has built-in DD 5.1. The new Toshiba SD2300 doesn't have a built-in DTS decoder, either.
