I'm looking to purchase a new player in the next couple of weeks. My preference would be the Panasonic or Sony 5 DVD/CD changer. Anyone know anything about either or these? Also, does anyone know of any promos/special offers going on right now? I know there used to be a constant 5 free DVDs w/ player but I can't find that anymore Do you think it is worth waiting a couple of more weeks to see what the holidays bring?

TIA

I'm not sure about any promos, but the Sony is by far better than the Panasonic. The video D/As Sony uses are some of the best for the money you can get. If you want to spend a little more, the Denon DVM-3700 is the best 5 disc DVD player out there.

I agree. I have a Sony changer (650D) and it is very good. Two concerns though. Layer change takes about 1/4 to 1/2 second. Not bad, but usually recognizable.

And the tray allows you to place a disc out of the seating if you're not careful. Then it closes and knocks the DVD around. I scratched up my first DVD that way and have learned to double-check the disc placement. I'm still leery of doing it in the dark.

If you're talking about the 650D, it does have DD built in, passes DTS. If you have those abilities in your receiver, save some money and get a player that only passes them on, not decodes.

I have the Panasonic C-220 and it works great. I think there is a new Panasonic model out now.

Also considering it is half the price of the Sony it is a much better bargain

That's why I was leaning towards the Pany to begin w/ (and the rest of that particular HT it's going into is Pany stuff). However, BestBuy (atleast online) has the Sony changer for about the same price as the Pany one I don't remember modle numbers though...
