i have an older Sony HTIB. the subwoofer light is on meaning that it is turned on, and everything is plugged in correctly, but no bass is coming out. Should i get a new subwoofer cable or just replace the subwoofer

Is that just a regular RCA cable or some proprietary thing? If the former, I'm sure you have another such cable laying around, you could test without spending any cash. Also, check the menu settings, that the LFE isn't set to Off.

Re: Subwoofer stopped working, any help?

Could be a bunch of things, including a bad cable, though I would doubt that's the case, unless you're rolling a chair back-and-forth over it all the time. Check the cable connections at both ends. Check that the sub channel is enabled on the amp. Does your sub have a volume knob on the sub itself? Make sure that didn't get turned down. Do you have another sub you can plug in to test (maybe borrow a friends)?

I would suggest testing new cable just to rule that out.
