While looking for a home theater setup I ventured over to the TV section (love those WEGAs) and saw the Panasonic CT-27DC50. I'm trying to set up a secondary home theater for my basement (wide but not that big). While I will probably purchase the Kenwood HTB system I still need a TV and another DVD player.

Any thoughts on this combo?

I don't know anything about this particular model. However keep one thing in mind when looking at combo units - if one of the components has problems, whether it is the DVD or TV, and has to be sent in for repair you will lose the use of the other one in the mean time.

My feeling exactly. And what do you do when it's not worth paying for the repair of the bad part? (Better get an extended warranty.) Or when you want to upgrade one piece? Unless there is an overwhelming reason (can't spend a penny more, have absolutely no space), I wouldn't do it. By the way I saw a combo TV-VCR-DVD. Nothing could go wrong there, could it?

My in-laws bought one of those TV/VCR combo units, and a small belt that drives the VCR broke -- and the whole unit was rendered useless. If the VCR didn't "start-up" correctly, the whole thing shut down, all over a 3-inch belt that cost less than $1 to replace.

Just some food for thought...
