I've been looking at new TVs lately and I should be getting one after Xmas.. the one I seem to like best right now is this one: http://www.toshiba.com/tacp/tv/TW40X81.html

I've noticed a lot of big "floor" TVs that have big speakers on them.. And the sound isn't too bad coming from them either..

But, most of these TVs are gonna be added to someones home theatre setup.. wouldn't it be more cost effective to make some models without speakers at all? I'm guessing i'd have the TV speakers off and the HT reciever running all the sound.. would it be any better with those speakers on too?

I know if not adding speakers could take $100-200 off the price of a TV I'd be more than happy to go with that, since I don't even really need em .. or do I?

They would never do that. The speakers cost about $5 total so they would never take them out to lower the price of the tv by $100-200 dollars. It would be nice though

Not everyone wants to have to use the HT speakers all the time. I watch most regular TV using just the speakers in my TV and only turn on the HT for sports or movies.

Same here - use home theater for movies and occasionally for TV Shows, but rarely...
