Be Region Free -

I've been looking all over the web for some way to be region free - and the cheapest way as well... I thought I'd share my findings since most of the time all I see are requests for info with no answers...
For mod chips (cheapest) http://www.earthstations.com/
For DVD Players (hella expensive) www.codefree.com
www.datatestlab.com has info on some players that can be made region free with codes punched in the remote. (free)
To buy region 2 stuff - I found www.dvdplus.com to have the best prices, but there's also www.amazon.co.uk www.blackstar.co.uk and a few others that have average to high prices.
I started this quest when I found out the movie Drive got a special edition treatment in region 2 and the region one version is plain and bad transfer.

Are the earthstations RFK kits any good?
They almost seem too cheap, they're being discontinued ("blown out"), and there is no documentation about them on the site.
I AM interested, but a little skeptical.
Anyone know anything here?

Also, every other place I've looked says "not to mess" with a Panasonic A-120, but earthstations seems to have a nice, cheap $30 chipset to modify it...
Discrepancy or good deal?

I'll let you know if Earthstations is what I hope they are. I haven't gotten the chip yet - I hope they don't try to charge like 20 million dollars to my credit card (not like they could even squeeze out 200 bux)...
Also - I just heard in DVD Talk that studios are releasing DVDs with special level 2 encoding that makes it so DVDs won't play on Region Free players... Perfect Storm is one of em... We'll see.

Let me add www.upgradeheaven.co.uk to the list. They have an alternative to Kits - it's an external device that won't physically alter your player - nice. About twice the cost of a kit.
