The last few movies I watched I thought something was wrong! The sound sounded raspy and not clear. It was only a cheapie Yamaha NS-AC141, so I need some recommendations on a new center channel speaker in the 300 dollar range. I got a Sony STR-DE835 receiver and Pioneer HPM-900 front speakers. Thanks for any suggestions.

That stinks about your center channel, mine just did the same about a month ago. I have been a huge audio geek or freak, depends on how you look at it for about 4 years now.. my suggestion is always that you want to buy the same brand of speakers for all of your speakers except the subwoofer because you should bet a better all around sound.... If that is not possible or if that doesn't matter to you to much.. I would check out circuit City's line of POLK AUDIO.. .that's what i have and i love it.. .let me know what youdecide to do..

I found out the hard way that you should keep your main and center speakers within the same family. I have Polk SDA mains and I had a crapy Sony 10" 3 way speaker that I thought should do just fine. The more I read about what I just said up top, the more it made sense. So I searched around and found the speaker I wanted and let me tell you, it makes a very big difference. Opened my system right up. The front soundstage is incredible. Check it out. stevef

I agree with COACH,,,Coach what Polk mains do you have ????? I have had my SDA's for a very long time, ever since they came out, and I still love them. I have '4' R-10's for surround and a CS-245i center, which is an excellent speaker. It sells for $250.00 and I got it for $180.00 inc shipping. If interested email me and I'll let you know from where......stevef [email protected]

Well I went to Circuit City this afternoon and purchased the Polk CS-245i center speaker for $250.00! Hooked it up and popped in The Matrix! WOW This is one hell of a speaker! I cranked it up and the dialogue sounded great! Thanks for the advice guys! I'm really happy, now bring on Jurassic Park baby!!!!!!!!
