Netflex with HT receiver
Just got a Samsung c500 HT receiver
When using the C500 it sounds good using with regular TV and DVDs. But I have netflex connect to the TV. When I try to use it with Netflex downloaded movie the sound cuts in and out. Netflex works fine with just the TV speakers. Is there something that a downloaded Netflex movie will not work with a HT receiver?
Samsung tech said netflex does not have surround sound so it will not put out any sound from the receiver. This does not sound right. If the TV speakers can play a sound why not my HT speakers. Have the TV hooked to receiver with a HDMI and optical cable
Thanks

How are you using the Netflix? Is it though a blu-ray player or a Wii or Roku or something else? And how do you have it connected to the receiver?
Netflix has issues with sound on some titles, either no sound because of a bad sound mix or just 2.0.

Netflex - it sounds like an online workout program.
Anyway, it doesn't make sense that it can't accept sound that isn't in surround. There are plenty of DVDs, such as older movies, that have mono or stereo sound.

Re: Netflex with HT receiver
Use it directly thru new samsung unc7000 TV instead of thru a Bluray. To connect to receiver I use the optical cable out to receiver besides the HDMI cable

Re: Netflex with HT receiver
There's two things I can think of, one is that the way the tv Netflix App works might be the issue or the way the receiver decodes what the tv is sending.
With respect to the second idea, try changing the TV's SPDIF Output to PCM or Dolby Digital, depending on what is currently selected. If that doesn't work, try changing the SRS TruSurround and TruDialog options off, one at a time.

I've been having issues with no sound when streaming to my computer a couple times in the last few weeks. Restarting the movie always fixed it for me.
