Odd problem

So I just purchased a Samsung speaker system and a Sony blu ray. After hooking them all up I'm encountering an odd problem i can't seem to find any info on. I will turn on the blu ray with the remote and everything turns on fine. After the receiver comes on i can control the blu ray for about 5 minutes before it stops responding to the remote. I can't figure out if the receiver is trying to control the blu ray through its remote (it can't because it can only sync with Samsung blu rays) or if my controller for the Sony blu ray is messed up. Anyone come across this problem?

Re: Odd problem

I'm a little confused by your setup. You have a Sony BR player and Samsung speakers? Youre using the remote that came with the Sony BR player right? What do you mean "after the receiver comes on"? It's turning on by itself??

Re: Odd problem

Yea its a Sony BR with its own remote and a Samsung speaker set with its own remote. I use the Samsung remote to turn on the receiver and the Sony remote to turn on the BR. After about 5 minutes(generally enough time for me to start the movie) the Sony BR stops taking commands from the remote and i have no way of controlling the BR other than the limited buttons on the BR itself

Re: Odd problem

What exactly is a "Samsung speaker set"? Is this a receiver, speakers or both?

How do you have connected? I'm assuming a HDMI between the receiver and players and then HDMI from receiver to TV?

I would be surprised if another brand of receiver was trying to control the player. Have you tried some simple things like changing batteries in the remote?

Re: Odd problem

Samsung speakers and receivers. Its plugged in through an HDMI port. Tried different batteries and that didn't work either. I've pressed every button on the BR controller and none of them work. The only thing that seems to work is disconnecting the power cord to the BR. Then the remote will work again for 5 minutes and after that the BR stops taking inputs from it

Re: Odd problem

I believe I've figured it out. AVI Sync was set to on, and setting this to off seems to have solved the problem

Re: Odd problem

Fastest way to figure out what's going on is to post the model numbers of the blu-ray and speaker set so we can lookup the instruction manuals.

Re: Odd problem

this might be an HDMI issue. Try connecting the blu ray player to your receiver with a different type of cables or just disconnect the hdmi cable and then see if it happens. If it does not, then you should look for a setting called HDMI sync or something like that.
You really shouldve included the models numbers of your equipment in your first post.
