Odd image flickering problem.

Started yesterday when I was playing Madden football on my PS3. Screen went dark for a few seconds, the image came back but it started flickering every few seconds. When I ejected the game, I noticed that the PS3 menu did the same thing so it's not a "bad" game. Tried another HDMI cable, same problem. Tried using another HDMI IN on my pre-amp, same problem. Tried plugging the PS3 directly into the TV (HDMI), no problem! Then I tried a DVD in both the PS3 and my Oppo, same problem. Since both the PS3 and the Oppo do not display this problem when plugged directly into the TV, I can conclude that the problem is with my pre-amp (Integra DTC 9.8) correct?

What's weird is that Blu-ray discs play fine, but games/DVD's do not. The difference here is 1080p x 24 vs 1080p x 60.

Any ideas? Tips?

Is the pre-amp doing upscaling for DVD and games?

I think the Oppo does the upscaling for DVD's and the pre-amp does the upscaling if I use the PS3 for DVD's/games. I'll have to re-check the settings to make sure...

I have been having the same problem with my PS3 only when playing DVDs. I switched out HDMI cables and it seems to have stopped.

Huhhhh, I flipped off the switch on the power bar, waited a minute, then switched it back on and lo and behold, the problem is gone. Note to self, try the simple things first before launching a full investigation... Doh!
