Ok, ok don't hate me. Yes I did but a Panasonic dvd player that failed but it has been exchanged for a Pioneer..

Now I need your help....
Has anyone had, for any reason, shutdown problems on their 795a (or equivalent)Yamaha receiver? Did you ever determine the reason for the problem? Was it serviced? My unit is only 6 month old and the problem is not continuous. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks...

That is usually a sign of a short. Take it in for service before you damage the receiver.

What are the circumstances under which it shuts down? There have been several posts here and on other sites over the last several months surrounding this issue. I did have this issue for a while, but want to see if the circumstances are the same before I offer advice.

darkside and tdamico...Thanks for the reply. I found the cause. It was a short of the speaker wiring on the speaker end. My dog had somehow caused the wiring to loosen and touch. I looked at the Yamaha book and,
it also said look for a short. I just got caught off guard. For years I had an early top of the line Pioneer pro logic receiver
(made about 10 years ago) and never had a problem. I guess the new equipment msut need better protection circuits.

Buy the way, does anyone know of an inexpensive web site (or store other than Radio Shack) to get screw-on banana plugs for speaker wires?

Thanks again for the feedback!!
