I'm new to the hardware forum and I'm wanting to know if in general the DVD Regionless players are actually legal or not. are they the same as Playstations that have a mod chip or do companies actually make Regionless players. If there are some available please list a couple of decent brands and models. Thanks!

There are DVD players that are sold modified, mainly outside North America, but these are unofficial and not supported by the DVD manufacturers or movie studios. If a DVD player is modified then this basically voids any warranty it might have. The playing of R1 DVDs is the main reason to get a DVD player modified.
