Recommendations on upgrading receiver (plus Blu Ray)
Wanting to update to an HDMI capable receiver. Any thoughts?
Also, for Blu Ray, we've got a PS3. Wanting to add another player in another room. Netflix streaming a plus.

What's your budget?
Personally, I'm a huge fan of Marantz receivers (I have an SR5003, and love it), but there are tons of options out there. You need to define a budget so that people can give you helpful suggestions.

Yeah, you're right, I should have.
Nothing extravagant. Less than $500 for a receiver, less than $200 for a blu ray player (unless everyone thinks a second PS3 is the way to go).

I'm looking for a receiver as well; 7.1 w/ plenty of HDMI inputs... I'm interested to hear the feedback you get.

I've thought about that...I already have one PS3, and I love it. If everyone thinks that's the way to go, I have no problem getting another one (especially since "fat" ones can usually be had pretty cheap as of late).

You can get a refurbished Marantz SR5004 or SR5003 for a little under $500 at accessories4less.
Other typical options in the sub $500 price range are Onkyo and Denon.

Re: Recommendations on upgrading receiver (plus Blu Ray)
I recently bought the SR607. 6 HDMI inputs, 7.2 channels and supports TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Im running a 5.1 setup currently, and this receiver sounds terrific. At around $400 on Amazon, I dont think you can get much more for the money. It also upconverts, and has a pile of additional inputs.

And just so I'm clear, if I'm running a PS3 through it, it'll decode the new sound formats on Blu Ray? Also, it upconverts, so I can run something into it through, say component (like the Wii) and be able to use the HDMI to the monitor?

BTW, I'm a fan of Onkyo and their higher end Integra models myself
