Hello, I am getting a system from DishNetwork that has the Dolby Digital output, I belive its the Model 4722, and have not chosen my Premium movie package yet but am leaning between 10 Showtimes or 7 HBOs. I was wonder if anyone has this service and if either Showtime or HBO broadcasts in 5.1. Also are there any other channels that broadcast in 5.1?
Thanks
Doug

Excluding HD content (which does not apply here because it would require a different Dish receiver than the one you have and a dish pointed to a different satellite), right now the only thing in DD 5.1 is pay per view movies.
The only premium movie channel that broadcasts movies in 5.1 on a regular basis is Starz. However, Dish Network still does not provide it in 5.1, despite the fact that Starz has commercials that advertizes the fact that they use Dolby Digital in many of their films. Dish has been promising Starz in 5.1 since late last year, but they still have not delivered. I have subscribed to the Starz package for this very reason, so Ive been very disappointed.
On the plus side, the PCM digital that you will get using your receiver with a digital optical cable is still really good. Dolby pro logic movies sound really nice in surround mode.

Thanks everone. I am now wondering if I even need to worry about hooking up analog RCA cables. Does every channel/show come across digitally through the optical connection?
