Question about Sony BDP-N460

[rant]So I had a LG BD 370 that was working fine until one day it just decided to start flashing "please wait" for some inexplicable reason (aka didn't do a firmware update or anything like that... just literally worked one day and didn't the next). Since it was past the 90 day warranty, LG wants $80 to take a look at it, not including shipping so I pretty much told them to piss off if they aren't going to cover a machine that was less than a year old. Last time I buy LG [/rant]

Anyway, now I'm in need of a new blu-ray player. I'm looking at the Sony BDP-N460 but I have a question about it. Reading some of the reviews on Amazon make it sound like you need to register w/ Sony itself before any of the online capabilities (YouTube, Netflix, etc) will work. Does anyone know if that is correct? Seems a bit much IMHO but if it is otherwise a good player I might go ahead w/ it anyway...

TIA

It's a great player; I have it. Some registration is required, but it's no big deal. I highly recommend it.

Does this player upconvert over component, for those of us who still have 1080i TVs?

IIRC, very few if any players upconvert over component because of copy protection restrictions.

So what do you get over component? 720p? 480p?
