I was hoping someone could answer a question for me. I just picked up a Pioneer CLD-M460 laserdisc player for $90 at my local friendly pawnshop.

It seems good- laserdisc and 5 disc cd changer with optical out. I can't find any info on this player and was wondering if its a good player? Any reviews of it?- Nothing on Audioreview.com
Thanks for any help.

C

As I recall, that player can't auto-flip and read both sides of a LD, because of the 5-disc changer capabities, and that's a bummer. The optical output on your LD player was never intended to give you dolby digital playback on LDs, that player was manufactured before that became the standard. If you wanted a five-disc changer for CDs anyway, and you just casually wanted a laserdisc player for a couple titles not on DVD, then it wasn't a bad purchase. The obscure collectable titles that won't be on DVD for a long time if ever, rarely have dolby digital soundtracks anyway. Only the big-budget blockbusters on LD tended to have it, and they're available on DVD.

Thanks for the reply guys- I did find out that the optical out can pass along a DTS signal, just found a few DTS LD for a pretty decent price. I'll try it out for a while- I have 30 days to return the player if I don't like it.

I'm mainly into DVDs, but when you can pick up Jackie Brown and other titles so cheap that are not on DVD yet its pretty cool.
