In my opinion, skip it. It is a worthless feature on a DVD player. It only works if connected to a receiver. It decodes the digital signal on a DVD so it can be played through to a receiver. Most new receivers today will decode the digital signal for you, so why pay for this feature in your DVD player. If you are only connecting the audio from your DVD player to the TV, you will only get 2 channel stereo, so the built in decoder in the DVD player is not used. Waste of money unless you are hooking up your DVD player to an older receiver that does not have a decoder built in.
