I have a Sony region-free DVD player I bought here in Japan, and an unusual problem has cropped up. I bought a disc that has a picture-in-picture audio commentary (Gavin & Stacey - Series 2, a PAL disc), but even when that's turned off, the "angle" icon appears, along with a big blue bar running across the top-third of the screen.

There seems to be no way to turn it off: If tried turning the PIP commentary on, then off; I've stopped the disc and restarted it, I've hit the angle button on my remote.

Any ideas?
