Re: Emerson
Does investing refer to purchasing TVs?
Then, no.
Or does investing refer to purchasing stock of MSN (Emerson Radio Corp)?
In that case....probably not, missed the window. Unless you expect them to behave like Apple Computer and just keep going up.

Re: Emerson
Emerson used to be a pretty decent tv. We have a B&W one in the garage that's about 50 yrs. old, that was my Grandmother's. Last time we plugged it in, and turned it on (few yrs. ago), it still worked. May not now though, after being in garage for so long. (We tried it when we moved it from the house to the garage) When did their status change? Probably about the same time as RCA................

They've been an "el cheapo" brand since the 80s- it took RCA til the late 90s to reach that status.

Don't forget: a few decades ago, the name Goldstar (from Korea) was to be avoided at all costs. They have since rebranded themselves as LG, and some people like their current products.

THAT'S interesting about Goldstar- didn't know that. LG owns what's left of Zenith.

Re: Emerson
LG = Lucky Goldstar
Also, other than being the first to really bring LED-based LCDs to market, where is Samsung not "middle of the road"? I would definitely call them a midrange brand in almost every market they enter.

Re: Emerson
ive seen samsung tvs very highly rated. before they were just a sanyo, philips or rca type brand. nothing special and something you would buy if you didnt have much money. now they compete with sony, toshiba, mitsubishi...ect. what i am saying is that they are actually considered a viable option when looking for a quality tv...unlike in the 90's.
also just a quick search took me to cnet.com where samsung is consistently in their top rated tv's.
