i have a cambridge soundworks sirround system that i got a year ago..the reciever "Sony xxxx" is pro logic and dolby digital ready...i thought this mean all i needed was a dvd player w/ a digtal decoder to get 5.1. so when i finally jumped to dvd i got the toshiba sd2200 and when i go to plug the 5.1 wires from the dvd player to the receiver there are no 5.1 inputs on the receiver! only 2.0 =( do i need to upgrade my receiver to one w/ 5.1 inputs? i thought my receiver was dolby digital ready? silly question but i must be a schmuck thanks

If your receiver was Dolby Digital ready, it'd have 5.1 inputs on the back. Since it doesn't, it's not, and you'll need a different receiver to get 5.1.

Many people, myself included, would recommend getting a receiver with an on-board DD (and DTS) decoder, since they only cost $50 to $100 more than comparable 5.1-ready receivers, and offer more flexibility (and resale value, if you care about that kind of thing).
