LCD TV Suggestions?

I am looking to get a 46" or so TV here around Christmas or so...any suggestions on a very fairly priced brand that would be good for full HD? I seen a sanyo at walmart yesterday (didnt go up to it and see the model or anything) and it was only 898 for the 46"...seemed a little too good to be true. My father has a Polaroid 46" and its amazing. It was around that price and is actually one of the best looking I have seen, but can't find it anywhere anymore. Anyone have any suggestions on a cheapish priced good lcd tv?

Sure, I'll bite...why LCD?

You mention price and technology, but you don't mention if picture quality is important or what you will be using the set for? You mention "full" HD. Do you mean you want 1080p? Will you be using as a computer monitor?

Oh and how far will you be sitting from your set?

Ive just heard that LCD lasts longer...I noticed Plasma was cheaper though...

I really just want something that will look really good. When i put my ps3 on my dads Polaroid 46"...i was blown away...It was a fairly cheap set, but looked so amazing. I want to get the most out of my blu rays and my video games...i don't play many video games, but when I do I want it to look its best. Im not very savvy about any of this...1080p is the highest right? I suppose thats what I mean by full HD...ive just heard the term...not really knowing anything. I probably won't be hooking my computer up to it...i know my dad likes to do that with his polaroid, but I really don't care. I don't sit too far from it. pretty close actually.

Re: LCD TV Suggestions?

You "heard" wrong.

First and for most, I'd take a deep breath, step away from your credit card and spend some time educating yourself. Your throwing stuff around without knowing what it means or why you want it. Some of which may actually prevent you from getting the best TV/value. And when someone asks you "how far will you be sitting" the answer should be in feet and/or inches. Saying "not to far, pretty close" is meaningless to anyone but you. I sit 10.5 feet away from a 94" screen and I think that is "about right". I doubt that is what your talking about. I'm going to just guess that you sit around 10 feet from your TV.

If you are happy with your dad's set and don't plan to do research and are not looking for the best pic (this is not a slam), then pick any of what you mentioned and go on and enjoy.

However, if you really want the best picture for the money, then I'd recommend you do some research and get comfortable with your choice, how to calibrate it and get the most out of it.

If you want the best picture, I'd consider the Panasonic Plasma. Incredible picture.

This will have a better picture than anything you listed.

I completely agree with Sdallnct's advice on this.

Re: LCD TV Suggestions?

I was at CompUSA (now a division of Tiger Direct), and they had a bunch of the 720p 50" Panny Plasmas for $749....god I was tempted. But wife would kill me. It would be a nice upgrade to the 1080p 46" Samsung we currently use in the living room. But again, wife would kill and I go no place to go with that Samsung. To big to go in the bar.
