Single-disc player or changer?

After 39 DVDs, I figure it's time to get a real DVD player instead of watching them on my crummy PC.
I am leaning toward a Sony 360, but am also intrigued by the changers that seem to become more and more popular. Maybe I am missing something, but can someone help me understand the motivation for a changer? I mean, movies at usually at least 90 minutes long, so I don't see a strong reason to have 2 or more discs that can be watched back-to-back. Or are people using changers as a storage device, much like some audio CD changers are used nowadays?
I would appreciate any insight you can give before I make my decision.

It is all about individual preference...I myself like the actual handling of my discs from the case to the dvd player...I currently own around 180 discs and have thought about buying the Sony 200 disc dvd player....what happens once I reach the 200 mark??? I would spend your money on a top notch machine and not worry so much about the disc changer specs...go to www.audioreview.com and see what other individuals think about all of the current players out there...these are not professional reviews but they are from people who possess decent enough knowledge regarding a players ability. Good Luck!!

Some benefits:
2 or 3 (or more) disc sets. Just pop them in and sit back for an hour or 6.
Your dvd changer is also a cd changer, which people tend to favour over single-disc players.

I read some bad reviews of the Sony, so I just purchased the 301 disc Pioneer AV-F727 I got it at liquidprice.com for just under $600 shipped. My first one got damaged in shipping so I returned it and my second works great so far. I like being able to leave them in there so that I don't have to handle them all the time. On average between my roomates and me we watch probably 2/day, so there was a lot of potential for mishandling and scratching them. Now I don't have to worry about that.

Thanks for all your inputs. I'll go with a single disc DVD player. I already have a 5-disc CD player, so the DVD player only has to do its DVD thing.

I've got about 80 DVDs plus a number of DTS CDs and I've got a 2109 Toshiba single disk player. I don't plan to upgrade until DVD-Audio hits big time. Yes a multi disk changer would be nice but I rarely watch more than one film at a sitting.
