Ok, here's the skinny.
I _know_ I have to upgrade my firmware, I have 1.3, and it has problems and chokes on certain disks, like The Abyss, in the pseudopod multi-angle supplemental footage. I want to wait to send it in under warranty till I know I'll have a reliable machine after I get it back and won't have to ship it off after another 2 months to fix yet another problem.
Just wondering, anyone know any firmware later then 1.5 which seems to cure this and other hitches?
1.1 came out in Dec/99
1.3 came out in Mar/00 (maybe sooner, but mines dated mar/00 and has 1.3)
1.5 came out Mar/00 (I'm assuming they started stamping these in late march, probably the next unit after mine rolled off the line, just so they could laugh at me, the viscious b@stards ;-)
For those that don't know how to find out their Tosh. players Firmware revision number, do as follows:
1) Turn on your player, I do mine with no disc, don't know if it'll work with a disk in *scratches head*
2) On the remote press: ZOOM, 6, 0, 6, ZOOM (thats 5 total button pushes)
3) Rom1/Rom2 will tell you your firmware number
Partly, I want to know if anything new in the way of fixed hitches has been discovered and cured, and partly I'm a techno-weeny at heart just looking at the numbers/specs of what this baby can do
Cheers in advance,
Mike J
