At some point later in the year (probably around October or November), I plan to purchase the Toshiba 2200 DVD player. (I currently own the sucky RCA 5220P; ugh!).

But my question is.......what are the chances of a new or even better player (in the same price bracket) being developed and brought out BEFORE that......by Toshiba or anyone else? How often do new models of DVD players come out, anyway? Or is it a safe bet that if I want a particular player NOW, I will still want the same player later this year?

I'm leaning towards the Toshiba because of the positive reviews its received and the fact that I own the 55-inch Toshiba projection TV, and I've been extrememly impressed with it's performance.

Back to top........anyone know anything about future DVD players in the coming year? Anything worth waiting on? Or am I safe in planning to purchase the Toshiba 2200?

I tell you this..if you bought the latest dvd player..you know how technology is. Nothing stays on top.

So purchase and enjoy.

By the way..the 2200 kicks ass. Beautiful performing player..rich in picture quality.

There is always something better in development, but at some point you have to jump in. I don't think you can go wrong with the 2200.

Thanks guys. I'll keep my plans for the 2200 intact, then.

BTW, the Toshiba 55-incher kicks major ass, too!! I can only imagine the 2200 and the Toshiba television I own together.......WOW!
