I'm currently upgrading my sub, and eventually the rest of my home theater, and I was wondering... Do I go for the JBL 15" 350 Watt Sub that is on sale at Amazon for $499, or do I go for the Audiosource 15" 200 watt sub for somewhere around $249?? Can someone tell me the major differences between the two?? I'm going to use my Jaboom Gift Certificate that I'm currently working on for them. Thanx in advance.

Are you looking at these two exclusively?
If so, I'd go with the JBL.
But if not you might want to check out Klipsch KSW-12. Go to audioreview.com and check out peoples' reviews of it. I havent checked it out personaly but I plan on buying it due to the ratings(perfect 5 out of like 44 people. thats amazing)

Sound and Vision has done a budget sub comparison in thier most recent issue, you should check it out.
The Hsu vtf series (see www.hsuresearch.com ) was rated the best, and the mission was ranked very well also. The Klipsch was in the comparison as well, it was pretty good and I think it was ranked third.

If you're considering spending $500, definately put the HSU on the top of your list. It's only a 10 incher, but it puts out plenty of quality bass. It's also tunable so you can chose volume or bass depth. Very highly in most magazines, and is a new model. The downside is that you won't be able to listen to it prior to purchasing it. I've never heard of anyone put down an HSU, and I don't see them for sale much at all. I can't say the same thing for a lot of brands which you seem to always find people selling. Of course, they might not sell as much as other brands either. Keep in mind also, that just because a sub might have a 300 watt amp, the driver may be so inefficient that it needs it to compete with other models.
